Our Services
We offer a flexible range of grant services designed to strengthen your organization’s capacity and funding opportunities:
- Grant research – Identify funding sources that match your goals and priorities.
- Grant strategy – Build a plan that aligns your mission with the right funders.
- Grant writing – Create compelling proposals that tell your story.
- Grant management (post-award) – Track deadlines, reporting, and compliance so nothing slips through the cracks.
- Coaching and capacity-building – Strengthen your team’s skills and systems so you’re ready for growth.
- Retainer-based services (best for most organizations).
For organizations needing multiple services, we usually work on a retainer basis. This means you’ll have a set number of hours each month that can be used however your organization needs at the time. Retainer agreements require a minimum three-month commitment, and unused hours can be banked for use later at no extra charge*.
Monthly retainer fees start at $1,500 per month for 20 hours per month. *
*Any work beyond the retainer hours is billed at an hourly rate of $75.
À La Carte Services
If you need more targeted services, such as grant proposal editing or coaching, we also offer hourly support at $85 per hour.
How Long Does It Take to Write a Grant?
Grant proposals vary a lot in complexity, which means the time it takes to complete one also varies. To help you gauge how many hours you may want to reserve for grant writing support, here’s a rough guide based on typical applications:
- Short Letters of Inquiry (LOIs): 6–8 hours
- Small local foundation proposals (under $5,000): 8–12 hours
- Medium foundation proposals ($5,000–$25,000): 15–25 hours
- Large foundation or proposals ($25,000–$50,000): 30–50 hours
- Major/national foundation proposals: 60–80 hours
- State or federal pass-through grants (like HUD ESG): 40–60 hours
- Federal single-year grants: 50–70 hours
- Large, complex federal grants or multi-year RFPs: 70–100+ hours
Keep in mind: these hours cover all the parts, including professional writing, project management, and packaging. Your team will also need to commit some time (usually about 25% of the hours above) for things like program planning, budgeting, editing, and providing documentation.
What It’s Like to Work With TAG
At TAG, we make the grant process clear, strategic, and manageable. Here is what you can expect when you partner with us:
Step 1: Discovery Call
Once you reach out, we schedule a one-time discovery call with the key decision makers. This is our chance to get to know each other and walk through the services TAG offers. Before we meet, we do our homework by researching your organization, but you will likely need to fill in a few gaps. You will share where you currently stand with grant funding, what your goals are, and what challenges you want to solve.
Step 2: Custom Proposal
If you decide to move forward, we will create a tailored proposal outlining the scope of work, timeline, deliverables, and any potential challenges. This proposal is a working draft. We refine it together until it meets your needs and expectations.
Step 3: Contract and Commitment
Once the proposal feels right, we prepare a formal contract that reflects our agreement. This step turns our plan into a clear, binding commitment.
Step 4: Getting Started
We “meet you where you are” with grants, but usually that means beginning We begin with a grant readiness review. We will ask for key documents that help us understand your organization’s operations and funding goals. We may usually meet again to finalize strategy and collaboration details. We tailor our working style to yours. Want to minimize meetings and stick to email with occasional check-ins? Prefer regular updates and standing calls? We will find the rhythm that works for you.
Step 5: Partnership in Action
This is not just a transaction. It is a partnership. We bring focus, structure, and a strategic mindset to your grant funding efforts. We will be timely in our responses and fully present during our work together. We offer guidance and honest feedback, but you always make the final call.
The Result
You gain time back in your calendar, a clearer path forward, and a consistent, strategic approach to grants. You might even gain a stronger organizational infrastructure, as describing your programs and evaluation for funders often highlights places to improve. Our shared success depends on trust, transparency, and collaboration, exactly what TAG delivers.
Let’s talk! We’re happy to explore what makes the most sense for your organization.
